4th Grade at Gaudet School

            Welcome to the 2010 – 2011 school year!!!  Hope everyone had a spectacular summer.  My name is Deanne Reilly and I am very pleased to have your child in my class this year.  Working cooperatively with me this year is Amy Smith. We are looking forward to an exciting school year.  We have many activities and experiments planned to make your child’s education as interesting and stimulating as possible.                  

There are a few items your child may need such as 2- pens (1- black or blue and 1- green), pencils, 4 - 1 subject notebooks, 6 -  2 pocket plastic folders (red, yellow, green, blue, purple and 1 student choice), 1 - clean sock (or white board eraser), glue sticks, 1 - box of tissues (school issued ones are rough on their noses), 1- set of earphones (labeled in ziplock bag), 1- jump drive and $5 for their lock deposit (returned when lock is returned). I have purchased colored pencils and pencil boxes for every child as well as a binder to display their work. Please NO trapper keepers or large boxes of crayons, I have found they will not fit in the cubbies (we do not have desks!!) with all the other school-related materials.     

Your child will be having homework Monday through Thursday nights.  We have given everyone an assignment book.  We would like everyone to use their “student choice folder” and assignment book for carrying homework, notices and their nightly assignments.  We would like to ask that parents/guardians please check their child's homework each night and sign the assignment book only when you have seen that the assignments have been completed.  Homework as well as important dates and information can also be obtained through our class web site

On a different note, we want to let you know we will be participating in various book clubs.  We will send the information and order forms home once a month and the orders will be due back one (1) week later.  All checks should be made out to SCHOLASTIC BOOK CLUBS and not to Gaudet School.  No one is under an obligation to order anything from these book orders.

 Also, the students will be working towards a complement party each month.  The students can earn a compliment (as a class) from all staff members at Gaudet School when spotted upholding the school rules anywhere on school grounds.  When the class reaches a certain goal within a month, they earn a compliment party of their choice.  I will need your help to reward the students.  When they decide on the party for the month, we will ask for various foods and supplies from each child, they usually volunteer what they want to bring in (nothing expensive!!!).  If this is a problem for anyone please let us know.
