Hello Kindergarten Friends,    My name is Doreen O'Neil and this is my 14th year teaching kindergarten. I enjoy opening the first doors to your child's school career, however, you, the parent, truly are the child's first teacher.    In our classroom, we will work toward building community by practicing teamwork and respecting others. We need everyone to feel comfortable in our new school family so learning can take place. I hope all children will gain a passion for learning, a passion for literacy, a passion for curiosity.    Kindergartners cross a huge bridge from being dependent on parents to being independent in the classroom...so many changes happen in kindergarten, academically, socially and emotionally. Our day will be filled with lots of reading and writing; snacking, singing and playing; working at centers and literacy stations; plus making discoveries in science, social studies and math. Our kindergarten classroom is a joyful, lively place and we love it!    Please visit our district website to learn about our specific programs and standards.
